From the Deseret News, end of April ( the date is cut off...I'm assuming it was the last Sunday in April ):

"I am one who looks back on his life with absolute wonder. I have done so many things that I never thought would be possible for me in my lifetime. I was the third child (of seven) born to George William Dyer and Ada Gibb Dyer in Portland, Oregon on October 4, 1925. Home was the little house tacked on to the small grocery store in a working class neighborhood in Portland.

"It has always amazed me that out of those humble beginnings, I was able to get advanced degrees, become a university professor and administrator, write books, and travel much of the world.

"Mother was a devout Mormon, and I was raised to be an active Latter-day Saint. During my mission to the Southern States, I became a convert. Activity in the church has always been important to me, and I have held many positions (stake president, bishop, missionary, teacher), but my strongest personal desire has been to be a worthy disciple of Jesus Christ.

"For 30 years I taught at BYU, started the Organizational Behavior Department, and was dean for a time of the Marriott School of Management. As a professional and a person, I have always been interested in creating change in human organizations. I have wanted to use my life in trying to make the world a better place where people could live peaceful, productive, growthful lives in achieving their full potential.

"I am absolutely convinced that my greatest contribution to the world is my family: my devoted wife, Bonnie, who taught me much how to live with diversity, and our children, Gibb (Theresa), Michael (Carol), Lisa (Joseph Hanson), Jeffrey (Ronalee), and David (Lori), and our grandchildren. They have filled my life with joy and satisfaction.

"Through the years I have had a variety of ailments, many serious, so I have long been aware of my own mortality. I have a complete faith about the immortality of the human soul, and look forward to the reunion with parents and loved ones."

-- William G. Dyer

"We as his children want to add that Mom and Dad were serving a mission as Directors of Public Affairs for the Utah South Area. We are grateful for his love and the example of his life, and for his counsel and writings which will continue to guide us and his 18 grandchildren. We miss you and look forward to our joyous reunion."

<snip>...details about the when and where of viewing and funeral in Provo, Utah

"In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the William G. Dyer Distinguished Alumni Award fund of 790 Tanner Building, BYU, Provo, Utah 84602."
