Pepperdine MSOD Mission Statement Needs
Your Input Culver City, CA -- The MSOD committee has been working hard
to understand the fitness of the current MSOD curriculum. As part of that effort, they
have been working on a mission statement that would capture the desired future state; a
bold and affirmative description of what the Pepperdine MSOD program is to become. The
program and its director Christopher G. Worley, Ph.D. now invites your comment. After several months of discussion amongst themselves and with guest
faculty, alumni, and current students, the Pepperdine MSOD Committee believe it is time to
open their work to a broader cross-section of the MSOD community. The text of the proposed Pepperdine MSOD Program Mission Statement
follows:
The MSOD Committee welcomes your comments about these statements. Are they challenging but achievable? Are the intents and purposes clear? Do they capture the best of what MSOD could become? You can leave your comments on the web at www.msod.com/msod_mission_input.htm or e-mail them directly to Dr. Worley at cworley@pepperdine.edu .
MSOD.com Website to Be Referral
Source Beverly Hills, CA -- Broadening its reach and value to the Pepperdine MSOD
community and beyond, MSOD.com announced that it will enhance its referral services. In
addition to the Job referrals, Alumni and Friends bios and resumes, and websites of
interest that it now maintains MSOD.com will offer a directory of consultants and shadow
resources, and a website design and hosting service to members of the community. Individuals will now be able to go to one source and find MSOD community members who
have expertise in an area they are looking for. This should enable internal and external
consultants to find backup, specialized expertise, and shadow consulting resources that
share the Pepperdine MSOD background. The new directory services will list individual consultants and where appropriate their
companies, and the expertise and services which they offer. Links to appropriate
biographies, resumes, e-mail addresses, and websites will be maintained. The directory can
be found on the net at www.msod.com/consultants
As an additional service MSOD.com will offer website creation and/or hosting
services at extremely affordable rates for MSOD community members who would like to have a
web presence. Those interested in finding out more about such services should send an
e-mail to info@msod.com
Access Limited to MSOD Community Initial Results of the MSOD Survey Are In Culver City, CA -- Chris Worley, Pepperdine MSOD Program Director, announced
that a short version of the MSOD Program Evaluation Summary is available in a
"PROTECTED" area of the MSOD.com website. Any alumni who would like to access the data will need to get a password from Gordon or Peggy, in the MSOD Program office.
MSOD Listserv Moves to MSOD.com Beverly Hills, CA -- The MSOD maillist begun on November 1, 1995,
by Randy Brooks of the TAU class is moving to MSOD.com. For 48 issues Randy kept
the flow of information and requests moving among those members of the MSOD community who
subscribed to the free service. In her last issue Randy apologized for not be able to continue to be the focal point of
the maillist. She commented that, "I'm finding that I'm fighting for time these
days and not doing lots of things -- attending to this list being one of them." Randy also requested that someone else take over the function. MSOD.com is proud to be able to continue this service. An initial issue (#49) will be
going out shortly to all subscribers and anyone interested in subscribing should send an
e-mail message asking to be added to the MSOD Maillist to info@msod.com The maillist is a simple store and forward service. Messages are received and collected
for a day or two, pasted onto one message, and sent out to the entire list. Under Randy's
care the list would generate 2 to 4 messages per week and would be sent out as as batch
once or twice weekly. Randy found the maillist to be "a terrific way to keep in touch with fellow
MSOD folks, share knowledge of job openings, exchange ideas on some of our practices, and
push our thinking on emerging issues." " It seems like it meets a need we have",
she added. "I'd love to see it really take off; and I for sure would
continue to participate."
Bookstore Goes Big Time ZIG's Bookstore Links to Amazon.com Beverly Hills, CA -- A fixture at several MSOD events and sessions, ZIG's
Bookstore announced it has moved to the web and entered into a joint marketing association
with Amazon.com, "earth's largest bookstore." Buyers will be able to pick out
books on the ZIG's website and the orders will be processed by Amazon.com By associating with Amazon.com ZIG's feels it can add the strength, discounts, and
service of a large organization with the nimbleness of a small shop. "We will
concentrate on adding value to our customers while Amazon concentrates on getting the
books out. It's a great partnership", says ZIG's owner , Zig Wiedemann. Jeff Bezos, President of Amazon.com Books in a letter stated that "Amazon.com
is pleased to have Zig's Bookstore in the family of Amazon.com associates. We've agreed to
ship books and provide customer service for orders we receive through special links on
Zig's Bookstore." Mr Bezos went on to write that, "we encourage
you to visit ZIG's Bookstore often to see what new books they've selected for you." ZIG's bookstore can be found on the web at: and a special OD books section can be found at : www.our-site.net/zigs/od_books
